Reigniting our Purpose as Teachers. A chance to reconnect with our deeply held beliefs and values, to recalibrate and reset for the new challenges ahead. In teaching, our mental space is often taken up with the tasks we must perform: Planning lessons, attending to students’ needs, grading, responding to emergencies… so it becomes easy to lose sight of our Why. We sometimes feel burned out and the reason might be that when the go-go-go of our professional responsibilities accumulate, we can find our beliefs and our actions running in different directions.
This workshop is designed for those brave teachers who seize the chance to reflect on and clearly articulate the meaning and purpose behind our teaching practices. It is an opportunity to reflect as a community, to take a moment to re-evaluate what we are doing and why we are doing it.
It is an invitation to think deeply about our personal mission statement by analyzing our IKIGAI, the Japanese concept for our “reason for being” and by paying attention to and aligning our six critical dimensions: Capability, Credibility, Connectivity, Contemplation, Compassion and Companions.Let’s find the power of reconnecting with our purpose which is embodied in ideal moments and serves as a touchstone in difficult times, helping us to stay on mission rather than losing ourselves in the weeds.
