Abstract
Reading is breathing in, writing is breathing out
This presentation will describe and discuss the importance of the synergy of reading and writing instruction, from early on and throughout Primary and Secondary education. Literacy experts such as Pam Allyn, Regie Routman, Frank Smith and Marie Clay have systematically and specifically outlined the benefits of teaching and learning literacy skills such as reading and writing in an interconnected manner.

Biodata
Inés Stefani is a Uruguayan teacher with over 40 years experience in Primary Education. She has specialised in early literacy teaching and learning, becoming a Reading Recovery teacher in Auckland, New Zealand in 1998. She is now a reading consultant in Uruguay and beyond.
