Abstract

With more digital resources available to our students, our profession is undergoing a number of important changes. Teachers are shifting from being presenters to facilitators, explainers to learning coaches. However, questions remain about how we will fit into these new learning environments, especially considering AI’s increasingly active role. This talk examines these questions and concludes with an empowering message for the future.

Biodata

Ben is a writer, teacher trainer and conference speaker. He taught materials writing for
many years on the online MATESOL program of the New School in New York.
He has published two methodology handbooks for teachers:

Working with Images and Language Learning with Digital Video (with Paul Driver).

For students, he has co-authored Evolve and Evolve Digital, a coursebook series for adults and Eyes
Open/Uncover for teenagers (all Cambridge). A pocket handbook 30 Ideas for Inclusion
in ELT will be published by Cambridge in April 2025.
